MICHEL ABEDIAN
Partner In Charge, Audit & Attest Services
Michel Abedian, Partner in Charge of Audit & Attest Services at FHH’s Chatsworth office, brings over 25 years of public accounting expertise, including five years with Ernst & Young. Specializing in audits for public and private sectors, not-for-profits, and employee benefit plans, Michel’s industry experience spans manufacturing, restaurants, healthcare, and education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from California Lutheran University and is an active member of both the AICPA and the California Society of CPAs. Outside of accounting, Michel is deeply involved in youth soccer as a coach and referee, showcasing his linguistic skills in English, Swedish, Armenian, and Persian.
Chad Anaya
Partner, Audit & Attest Services
Chad Anaya, a cornerstone of FHH since starting as an audit intern in 2007, now leads the firm’s prestigious broker/dealer practice. His journey from intern to partner is marked by 15+ years of comprehensive audits across public companies and broker/dealers, showcasing his vast expertise in industries like employee benefit plans, non-profits, healthcare, manufacturing, and entertainment. A San Diego State University alum with a BS in Accounting, Chad is a licensed CPA deeply involved in the professional community, serving as a certified peer reviewer and member of the California Society of CPAs Peer Review Committee. Outside the office, Chad dedicates time to family, coaching his sons’ sports teams, indoor cycling, traveling, and enjoying live music.
Donna Carnes
Partner, Employee Benefits Plans
Donna Carnes is a Partner in Accounting Services at FHH’s Valencia office, with over 25 years of experience in public accounting and private industry. Prior to FHH, she specialized in employee benefit plan audits and served as a controller for a manufacturing company, enriching her audit approach with a client-focused perspective. Her expertise covers a wide range of industries, including not-for-profits, manufacturing, and construction. Donna holds a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Outside work, she enjoys family time, supporting her daughter’s teaching ambitions, and church activities.
JEFF HASS
Partner, Peer Review
Jeff Hass, Partner at Farber Hass Hurley LLP, oversees audit and accounting services with a 40+ year career in public accounting, including 14 years with Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche. He specializes in industries like manufacturing, distribution, technology, life sciences, and retail, serving clients globally. Jeff, a Loyola Marymount University graduate in Accounting, chairs the Audit Committee for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and is actively involved with the Ernst & Young Alumni Council. Recognized as a top financial professional in Ventura County, he also referees high school and youth football. Interestingly, Jeff is the grandson of the Hass avocado creator, a legacy he humorously notes hasn’t been profitable for the family.
MIKE HURLEY
Partner, Peer Review, Audit & Attest
Mike Hurley, Partner in Charge of the Chatsworth Office at Farber Hass Hurley LLP, boasts over 40 years in public accounting and 4 years as a manufacturing controller. He specializes in audits for various sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, not-for-profits, and employee benefit plans. A graduate in Business and Science from Oregon State University, Mike has led the California Society of CPAs Peer Review Committee and served on the AICPA’s National Peer Review Committee. As a certified Toastmaster, he’s deeply involved in community sports, having been an AYSO coach, referee, and regional commissioner, and leading a girls’ soccer team to significant victories at Van Nuys High.
LARRY MCEWEN
Partner, Peer Review, Audit & Attest
Larry McEwen, Partner at Farber Hass Hurley LLP’s Chatsworth office, brings a wealth of experience as a CPA since 1980 and a PriceWaterhouseCoopers alum. With 40+ years of experience, he specializes in audits of employee benefit plans and non-profit organizations, Larry’s also a rare California CPA approved for AICPA’s National Peer Review Committee audits. His background includes a decade in financial management at NBC Television and senior roles in high-tech IPOs during the 1990s. With a BA in Economics and Accounting from UC Santa Barbara, he’s a member of the AICPA and California Society of CPAs. Originally from Montreal, Larry actively supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has volunteered as a Little League umpire in Europe.
